Zhou Yuan was born in 1979 at Gaoling District of Xi'an City of Shannxi province. 

 In 2003, she received a bachelor's degree in civil engineering at Chang'an University, then, obtained a master's degree in structural engineering in 2009.  Now, She is a Ph.D. in structural engineering from Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. 

She is a lecturer in engineering graphics at the college of science, Chang'an University.

The main research areas are: the structure of disaster prevention and mitigation, vibration control, health testing.
