Resume

Dr. Baiming Ren received his Environmental Engineering dual-PhD. degree both from University College Dublin, Ireland and IMT Mines Albi, France. Over this period, he has shown individual excellence evidenced by notable publications, postgraduate teaching and supervision, and research impact. He has taught and presented seminars regarding environmental systems and technologies, and engaged in scientific collaboration at over 10 universities and research establishments. He also has worked on several international projects in Ireland, France and China.

The focus of his research brings well-rounded interdisciplinary efforts in the area of environmental engineering. This effort emphasizes the integration of drinking water treatment plant residues, wastewater treatment and constructed wetlands, conjunctive use of environmental/ecological engineering processes, computational methods and information technologies to advance our understanding of large, complex, and integrated environmental systems under the impacts of global change. This integration enables the development of new (nature-based) solutions to improve environment. Also, it generates new thinking in the management of environment-related risks, variability and change.

He has co-authored over 20 articles published in impacted journals and conference proceedings, delivered 9 international conference oral presentations in the last 5 years. Additionally, he is a regular peer reviewer for over 10 journals published by Elsevier, Springer Nature, Taylor and Francis, Wiley, ASCE and IWA. He also serves as young editorial board member for China Water and Wastewater Journal, member of Ireland Chinese Association of Environment, Resources and Engineering and member of Western Returned Scholars Association (Overseas-educated Scholars Association of China).
