Biography

Dr Zhang is the Professor of Chang'an University. He got his PhD of Materials Science from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2008. He joined Chang’an University in Oct.2008. From Oct. 2008 to Oct.2009, he did one-year research of the synthesis of nanoparticles in the Deartment of Chimiestry, University of California, Irvine. His research interest is road engineering materials, esp. modification of asphalt and asphalt mixture using polymers. Dr. Zhang has published over 50 papers in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings, including Construction and Building Materials, Road Materials and Pavement Design, etc. Dr. Zhang has reviewed technical papers for many journals and is the editoring board member of Chinese journal of Transportation Technology.

  

Research Interests

The main research area is the research on the relationship between the composition, structure and performance of road engineering materials. The research direction mainly includes:

1. Polymer modified asphalt and concrete materials; epoxy modified asphalt; polyurethane modified asphalt.

2. Research and development of new road traffic materials;

3. The effect of material microstructure on properties;

4. Polymer and its composites;

5. Synthesis and application performance of asphalt material modifier (flame retardant, warm mixing);

6. Preparation of nano materials and their application in the field of road traffic
