Prof. Ph.D. Hong Chen is a senior expert, planner, and consultant in transportation engineering. She is the past Vice Director of School of Highway, Chang’an University and currently the member of Higher Education Transportation Engineering Teaching Steering Sub-committee of Ministry of Education, the member of Urban Transportation Planning Academic Committee of Urban Planning Society of China, the legislative consultant of Standing Committee of Shaanxi Provincial People’s Congress, the leader of provincial-level teaching team and the leader of provincial-level top-quality courses.

  

She has published more than 90 scientific papers and articles in magazines and conferences, as well as 6 books, 2 software copyrights and many patents. She has won 2 third prizes in Science-Technology Progress of China Highway Society Award, 1 first prize in Science Research Famous Achievement Award in Higher Institution, 1 second prize in National Teaching Achievements Award, 1 grand prize and 3 second prizes in Teaching Achievement Award in Shaanxi Province.

  

She has presided over or participated in numerous major scientific projects,including the project funded by the National Science Foundation of China during the 10th Five-Year Plan, the key project of National Science and Technology Support Plan during the 11th Five-Year Plan, the key project of Ministry of Science and Technology, the project of West of China Development of Ministry of Transport, the projects of highway science and technology in Shaanxi, etc.

  

All the time, she is engaged in teaching and research covering most areas of transportation engineering. Her research interests include traffic operation and control, assessing operational and control strategies of highway facilities, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and traffic environment impact.
