Pengyong Miao, Ph.D. in Engineering, Associate Professor at Chang'an University.

Dr. Miao graduated with a bachelor's degree in Exploration Technology and Engineering from China University of Geosciences (Beijing). He then pursued a master's degree at Nanjing University under the supervision of Professors Bin Shi and Baojun Wang. After completing his master's degree, he worked as an assistant engineer at Shanxi Transportation Research Institute for one year. Subsequently, he pursued a doctorate in Civil Engineering at Hokkaido University, Japan, under the supervision of Professors Hiroshi Yokota and Shunji Kanie.

Dr. Miao's research focuses on intelligent operation and maintenance of engineering structures, specifically in the following areas:

1. Safety performance assessment of slopes and underground structures.

2. Lifecycle operation and maintenance of bridge structures.

3. Operation and maintenance of urban lifeline structures.

4. Safety performance assessment of power infrastructure.

He actively encourages students to explore and expand into new research directions.

Dr. Miao recruits 1–2 master's students each year and warmly welcomes students with backgrounds or interests in geotechnical engineering, structural engineering, bridge engineering, computer science, or intelligent hardware development to join his team.
