Li Bo is a Doctor of Engineering, associate professor, and postgraduate supervisor. From 2002 to 2007, he studied at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology and obtained a doctorate in Structural Engineering. In 2007, he joined the School of Civil Engineering at Chang'an University.

His research activities include seismic risk assessment of engineering structures, seismic analysis and design of structures with energy dissipation devices, and performance based seismic design of building and bridge structures. In recent years, he has acted as the principal investigator in the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Natural Science Basic Research Project of Shaanxi Province, and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation.

He has authored more than 20 published papers in international journals and academic conferences such as Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Advances in Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, and Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration.
